A Weight Loss Program That Works

By Steve Hill There are many people in the world who from time to time attempt to lose weight. It is no big secret that people are on average becoming lets say larger. More people decide to start a weight loss program in this month, January, than in any other month, the question however is how many of these people actually succeed? I think the answer would be that not many of them do. What people require is a weight loss plan and diet that actually works. In this article I am going to write about how I successfully lost five stones in weight, enabling me to reach my target weight. What is probably even more important is the fact that I have been able to keep at this ideal weight. I have struggled to control my weight since I have been a teenager. Like I am sure most people, I love my food and am rather partial to items such as chocolate, pizzas, currys and chips. I am aware that these foods are not exactly healthy but I like them so much that for me to give them up would make life not really worth living. As you can see I am not exactly open to the idea of giving up food to help me to lose weight. The way to go for me was via exercise. I first gave jogging a go, however I found this very boring. Then a friend suggested that I should get a dog. He stated that I could take this pet for long walks around five times a day and that this would definately help me to lose weight. I took up my friends advice and I have not looked back since. Walking the dog five times a day has not only helped me to lose a lot of weight it also helps me to reduce stress and to help me to think in a clearer way, much as in the same way that meditation does. Love Yourself - The First Success Secret I Rediscovered in 2007

By Maria Pascucci I have a confession to make to all my young readers. Lately, I have been a hypocrite. Allow me to explain. I preach stress reduction, body love and acceptance in every single one of my articles but when it comes to my own body — well — Ive been having a hard time taking my own advice. Sure, I accept the fact that Im not a super model. I accept the fact that my chest isnt a Double-D and I have NO INTENTION of ever doing anything surgically about that. As long as I am eating right and exercising and I look good according to my own standards, then I am happy with what I see. I thought I had come to terms with the mirror a long time ago. Then in October 2006, I underwent laparoscopic surgery and was diagnosed with stage 1 endometriosis. Endometriosis is a painful, chronic disease that affects 5 1/2 million women and girls in the United States and Canada, and millions more worldwide (visit http://www.endometriosisassn.org/family.html to learn more about how endometriosis affects teenage girls and young women). After years of suffering major pelvic pain and other yucky symptoms I was relieved to finally have a real medical diagnosis. It wasnt just all in my head. However, I was so stressed out after my surgery that my skin broke out like I was 13 years old all over again. I had horrible acne when I was a kid and I was teased mercilessly for it. Every time I looked in the mirror back then I started to cry and cursed the imperfect reflection. Fifteen years later, here I am back in front of the mirror, cursing the imperfect reflection. Im growing a business. Im meeting with clients. I am a role model for teens. How am I supposed to act confident with acne all down the sides of my face? I have been hiding out in my apartment. When I pass people on the street, I hide my face with my hair (smart move considering the chemicals I put in my hair to keep it frizz-free!). To be able to face my family over the Christmas holiday, I wore a lot of makeup, which probably only made the problem worse. Scars that I had buried years ago are now staring me square in the face and its not pretty, both literally and metaphorically. I think you should try rereading some of your articles and take your own advice, my 27-year-old husband said to me last night with a sympathetic nod of the head. He was right. It was time to try a new approach. I went to my mirror this morning, cupped the sides of my face with my hands and said, I forgive you. Cheesy? Yes — but it worked. I smiled at my reflection in that stupid piece of glass for the first time in weeks. And took back control over my life. What a gift to give myself first thing in the morning! If you ever start to curse any of your supposed imperfections, try to take these words to heart: The acne will heal, the pounds will melt, the scars will fade; but the image you have of yourself lasts a lifetime. So make it a good one. Do you: Ever find yourself preaching body love to your friends yet have a hard time following your own advice? Believe that the world around you notices your flaws as much as you think they do? Shoot me an email and let’s discuss this. I love to hear from students! Planning Your Party: How Organization can Prevent Disasters

By Ellen Zucker Most good event planners are a bit on the anal side. That is because “the devil” really is in the details. And if the details are not well managed, it is very easy for all kinds of problems to occur. A good example occurred just this week. I received a call from a client this past Tuesday. She wanted to talk about the party she is scheduled to have for this coming Saturday. She had done all of the right things including planning and booking her vendors well in advance. In fact, she had booked our services back in February. The reason for the call? She received a panicked call from her catering hall. It turns out that they double-booked the time slot for her event. This catering hall is run by a husband-wife team. The wife generally handles reservations. But her husband had taken down a reservation for another event, a wedding reception. He didn’t see that the time slot was already reserved for my client’s event. The wife discovered the oversight while reviewing arrangements for the weekend. The upshot? My client, who didn’t have the heart to displace a wedding celebration, had to reschedule her event on short notice. Needless to say, the oversight caused my client a great deal of inconvenience. For starters, she is expecting out-of-town guests who will have to change their arrangements. The hall is trying to compensate by giving my client its use for free. Nonetheless, damage was done. In this case, there was little the client could have done to prevent this problem. It was caused by conditions out of her knowledge and control. The reality is that people are human and screw-ups happen to the best of us. But you can minimize problems arising from items under your control. The key is organization. If you are planning an event, keep a timeline and keep records. The timeline will give you a way to impose order on the endless details by letting you quickly see what has to take place and when. Records will give you concrete reference so you don’t have to rely on memory. Contracts, receipts, papers, and your notes of phone conversations should be kept in a central place such as a folder. A diary system based on your timeline will trigger necessary reviews and action on your part. For example, if you book a vendor’s services and they promise to send you a contract, ask when you can expect to receive it. Then, note the date in your diary. Check it off when you receive the paperwork. Failure to recieve the contract or any other promised paperwork should precipitate follow up on your part. Such failures can be caused by any number of things. Papers get lost in the mail, and occasionally vendors don’t properly record an order. It is rare, but it happens. Likewise, many providers of party services require the payment of a deposit to secure your order. Many clients shop around, change plans, or fail to commit for any number of reasons. Depending on the specific product or service, some vendors receive orders from a small percentage of their inquiries. So a vendor may not follow up if you do not send in the deposit. And you may find yourself scrambling to obtain that service under a short deadline. This is more likely during peak periods when the vendor’s resources are stretched. A diary system will keep you on track and organized. Experiences like my client’s are rare. But mistakes do happen. By being organized and on top of your diary system, you’ll prevent a lot of problems. And you can be confident that you have the details of your event under control. God Always Has Been and Always Will Be?

By Lance Winslow Have you ever asked a religious follower the simple question that you think is very clever because you know that they cannot answer it? Because you know you got them and you are just so happy inside to screw with their little human brains? So you ask them; If God made the heavens and the Earth and all that we see, well (and you are really charged up now) Then who made God? (Ha, gotcha you are thinking!). Then just when you are starting to smile the give you an answer and state: God Always Has Been and Always Will Be! So, you are thinking that is no answer, but they are saying to themselves, Ha, top that you agnostic scoundrel! You know the conversation is going no where and you can feel an impasse coming like five scratch games of tic tac toe in a row, with some smarty pants. Recently this God issue came up in a most unusual place; an online scientific think tank forum, as a fellow think tank member stated: And I ponder how can one being last forever, in the same sense that it never had a beginning and was just “there” or will never have and “ending”. This is a question, which many men have and many men seek to answer. And in that if God or Gods do or did exist and if we are not our own gods who have come to this virtual reality playground for the sake of entertainment; and there is a god almighty as you so righteously in all your religious theory proclaim then who made god? Since we cannot know the answer without better information. The question is irrelevant and that proceeds the question if a god exists, existed or will exist or if time is all one and this god is us. The issue of faith is absurd says the atheist and agnostically inclined as they state such things as; especially when it is demanded by men who created a religion to control other men; that is simply silly and any man who would fall for such is a follower of men, not a free man open to seek his choice and destiny. It is amazing who heated such simple debate can become, but perhaps you will consider all this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. She Left You And Now Your Sexual Confidence Is Also Gone

By Christine Akiteng I receive so many emails regarding this topic that I felt the need to respond in an article. Hopefully itll help those who struggle with lack of confidence as a sexual man or sexual woman and even lack of interest in sex - or just plain scared of it - after a split with someone you loved and may still love. The two of you may genuinely love each other but then the other person feels that he or she is no longer excited by physical intimacy because he or she finds it boring and repetitive. You thought you were doing a good job but she says shes dissatisfied. May be the two of you even sat down and discussed how to improve the sex part of the relationship but nothing worked, so she walked away. Now you are scared of sex because you fear that you will fail to please woman and she too will be disappointed. And youve stayed single because of it. Rejection is painful enough as it is, but someone breaking up with you because they find you not sexually desirable is probably one of the most painful reasons for rejection because it says to you you are not man enough. This sometimes is more painful than losing the person you love. But not as sad as walking around resigned to the idea that nothing can be done: 1. STOP beating yourself up - In my experience Ive found that the more you beat yourself up and retreat into your fears, the worse things get. Not only does your confidence completely dry out, your ability to enjoy sex goes with it. You start feeling so alone, angry, resentful, revengeful and eventually depressed. This is the worst place to be but even worse to try meet women and date them. 2. Allow time to heal your pain - Recovering after being rejected can be a slow and painful process. If being alone is what you need right now, then by all means be alone but do not allow licking your wounds to become a permanent pre-occupation. it’s so easy to slip into resignation and hopelessness. 3. Talk to someone A close friend, relative or professional. Talking to someone not only makes you feel better, but it can shed light on some of the areas of your life that you are not consciously aware of. You may have done a few things right but its what you did not do that ended your relationship. Seeing it from an independent persons lenses can make a huge difference. 4. Open yourself up to new ideas Be open to questioning some of the outdated beliefs and behaviours about relationships and especially about sex - ideas and beliefs programmed into your head since you were little. You might be surprised to find out that others do things differently and there are some new things you could learn and enjoy that do not conflict with your values, integrity and lifestyle. 5. Put yourself to learning how to please a woman - This is more than learning sexual techniques. Its so sad that modern society has given us so much in terms of technological advancement but derailed many men from understanding what it really takes to please a woman sexually. Learning just the mechanics of being a good lover does not satisfy a woman - you probably already know that. You need to learn to be the man that releases the primal in a woman make her feel like a real woman with a real man. 6. Try again - Nothing gets any better by not trying. Get out there and meet new people. Being angry at all woman isnt going to do you any good many dont know you are angry at them and dont care. It may be hard for you to accept it just now, but not all women are the same and your next partner is a new individual with unique needs, desires and experiences. Treat her that way. 7. Dont get lazy - Make the effort to keep your next relationship fresh and exciting always. You never know until you try it! And what have you got to lose anyway, it’s not like life is wonderful as it is now - but it can be! Summer Youth Camps Offer Endless Possibilities

By Samantha Kay Whatever interests your child has, or whatever position they are in, there is a summer youth camp that will perfectly meet their needs. From the familiar traditional summer camps to adventure based camps, there is an amazing variety of camps for your child to choose from. In fact, if you are planning to send your child to a summer camp, you might want to get started early searching out the perfect match. The ever popular traditional summer camps are all time favorites. These include camps such as 4-H camp, Boy Scout Camp, and Girl Scout Camp. Generally those wishing to attend these camps must first be an active member of the corresponding group. Traditional camps generally offer a wide range of activities such as swimming, hiking, and arts and crafts. These camps are generally affordably priced. In some cases, children are allowed to do projects during the year that can count as credit toward their camp fees. If your child is not into traditional camps, an adventure camp might be more his or her speed. In these adventure camps, your child can choose from a variety of destinations from local to foreign. For instance, choices include glacier hiking in Alaska, backpacking in Australia or working on a cattle ranch in Texas. These camps are great for a child who likes to try new things. Depending on the destination, however, these camps can be quite pricey. If your child is more interested in arts that in sports, there are also summer youth camps that specialize in the arts. A search of the Internet will allow you to find camps that focus solely on music, painting, dance, voice, performing arts, or any other art related area that catches your childs interest. If your child is not already interested in arts, a week or two in a performing arts camp might spark an interest in a new hobby or talent. While some summer youth camps are just about having fun, there are some that can actually allow your child to try out a possible future career or even earn college credit. Believe it or not, there are actually camps that will help your child improve his scores on college entrance exams. There are also camps that explore the possibilities of careers in finance, robotics, medicine and education. Even if your child has special needs or is handicapped, there is no reason for them to miss out on the summer youth camp experience. There are a wide variety of camps specially geared toward special needs children. So whether your child is blind, deaf, suffers with asthma, or has any other type of mental or physical handicap, there is more than likely a camp that will fit his needs. These camps generally hire staff specially trained to deal with your childs handicap. Many have an onsite doctor or nurse who can handle any medical need that might arise. As you can see, there are a wide variety of summer youth camps available. With a little research, you and your child are sure to find one that fits them perfectly. Are you Heartbroken at the Thought of Losing Somebody Who Treats you like Dirt?

By Annie Kaszina This week a reader wrote to ask: Why am I heartbroken at the thought of losing somebody who treats me like dirt? Why indeed? How is it that you know something with your head and yet your heart drowns it out? And is it really your heart? Or if it is, what is that really about? If I had a dollar for every time a woman has told me how wonderful her lover is, even with his hurtful, punitive behaviours, Id be writing this in my very own palazzo on Venices Grand Canal. The fact is you love your investment. Once you start to invest your time and quite possibly money your heart, your trust, and your future in a dream, its hard to let it go. One of my constant rants is that people arent terribly good at joined up thinking, or joined up living. Were forever compartmentalizing our life. We do it in all sorts of ways, but for now, lets just look at how we do it in relationships. Theres this thing called The Love Conquers All button that we all have, which, once pressed, short-circuits logic, common sense, friendship even family values. Sometimes, its known as the Throw Everything Over For The Man You Love button. Either way, it tends to be a pretty dangerous process. Not least because as well as throwing caution to the wind, you cast aside all previous criteria and points of reference. The heart has its reasons, allegedly, of which reason knows nothing. Quite. But is this a good thing? Just suppose that instead of arguing that falling in love is like nothing else, you compared it to the selling process. After all, most of us are guilty of falling in love with things that we buy; like shoes and clothes etc. You buy, because people sell to you. Ideally, in the sales environment, there is the upsell. Either youve bought a small thing, or youve agreed to listen to someones ‘pitch’ and they use that as a foundation to sell you a much higher ticket item. Do you notice any similarity with relationships? An abusive man will, consciously or unconsciously, sell you on his charm, his vulnerable side, his fast-track wooing. Thats actually the low ticket item. Sadly, the high ticket item is not more of the same. Its his dark side, the return he expects from your investment as well as the investment of his time and trouble. The high ticket item is this: making him feel good becomes your responsibility. And if you fall down on the job and why wouldnt you? hell make himself feel good by making you feel bad, by treating you like dirt. Thats the contract as he sees it. But you dont get it. You still believe that the contract is based on the low ticket deal. And every so often, when he needs to, hell give you some of the low ticket sweet-talking. Just enough to get you to buy into him all over again. Because there is another important factor in all of this: and thats the power of words. Whether or not abusive men are educated or in any way sophisticated, they all have a great intuitive grasp of the manipulative power of words. They may deny the power of their words, because it is convenient to do so. It’s another denial of responsibility. But the truth is that manipulative words work. They work every time, unless you consciously challenge them. They work because they send you into a sort of waking trance. You only have to think of the way a partners words can send you spiralling into despair, or more rarely, relief and joy, to see the way it works in action. Add into the trance, the immortal words that every abuser utters with monotonous regularity: Youre lucky to have me. Youll never have another man as wonderful as me and you begin to see it. He says it and, even as you gaze on the tormentor whose face is contorted with fury, it sinks in and you believe it. You believe what he says, rather than what he does. So he acts like he hates you, but tells you some involved story about how youve hurt him and you believe it. You believe his story rather than your own. Incredible as it may sound, it happens all the time. But now you know how the mechanism works. Now youll catch yourself having the old buttons pressed and youll start to say No. Knowledge isnt foolproof, but awareness and practice will neutralize the old hooks and protect you in the future. As you become more aware of the mechanisms and learn to love yourself, the less the less likely it becomes that anyone will ever treat you like dirt again. Secured Personal Loans - Employ the Right Kind of Finance

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Andrew_Baker]Andrew Baker Secured personal loans have a history that dates back to centuries before the advent of modern banks and financial institutions. Even in the ancient times, borrowers were able to draw funds only when the lender was given rights to certain assets. Though a vast change is visible in the lending policy today, the popularity of secured personal loans sees no decline. Though homeowners do have the option to take unsecured personal loans, a majority of the group prefers to have loans the secured way. Mere apprehension of losing homes through repossession fails to motivate borrowers to change loyalties. At least borrowers who have been regular in credit transactions or had not more than one or two incidences of bad credit will not put their weight for loans without collateral. Loans without collateral or unsecured personal loans do not claim a direct charge on the borrowers home, but compensate the risk with a very high rate of interest and equally strict terms. Therefore, while the safety of home is ensured, the cost of loan rockets up. It is obvious that the cost of [http://www.loansfiesta.co.uk/secured_loans.html]Secured personal loans is lesser because of the lower interest rates and less strict terms. When the loan comes over for repayment, secured personal loans will be easier to repay because of lower cost involved. The intention of loan providers who try to influence the decision of borrowers to take secured personal loans is often viewed disapprovingly. Lenders prefer secured personal loans because of the lower degree of risk placed by them. People interpret this as the lenders eye on their home. Lenders are in no way interested in repossessing house or any other asset kept as collateral. Since, repossession, maintenance and liquidation put a huge cost on the lender, he would better allow the borrower to himself repay the loan provided. Only in the most extreme of cases when the loan appears to become a bad debt, lenders undertake to repossess collateral. Consequently, the fears regarding secured personal loans are misplaced. Advantages of secured personal loans are numerous. Principal among them is the treatment meted out to borrowers who opt for secured personal loans. The preference that the secured personal loan borrowers enjoy is well known. Since the fate of an asset of theirs is on stake through collateral, not many borrowers would take the step to be irregular in repayments. Consequently, the risk involved in secured personal loans is lower. Leniency in other terms is the result of the reduction in risk. Interest rate, for instance, is the lowest in secured personal loans. Typical APR ranges from 6% to 25%. The interest rate chargeable on any other loan will be much higher. The asset pledged towards collateral helps determine the APR that the borrower has to pay. Home and real estate property commands the lowest APR. Automobiles and title to motor vehicles too command a good interest rate, albeit higher than in homes. The collateral offered also determines the amount that can be had through secured personal loan. Home presents the safest bet for lenders. Thus, maximum amount will be lent against home. As a rule, the largest amount is offered through secured personal loans. When secured personal loan is offered against home, it is the equity that decides the amount of loan offered. Thus, borrowers planning to use the loan proceeds to huge expense heads like debt consolidation, home improvement and car purchase will be benefited more through a secured personal loan. Though the repayment options presented to the borrowers of secured personal loans are no different from that available to the unsecured loan borrowers, repayment is a relatively smoother journey for the former category of borrowers. Most lenders will make the terms of repayment flexible enough to suit borrowers. Some loan providers have deployed experts to educate borrowers about the various options that are available to them for loan repayment. The method used for disbursal of loan will be suggested after gaining a proper knowledge of the borrowers financial condition. A proper study indicates if the borrowers finances will be able to support the repayment method and the loan itself. Secured personal loans do have a few drawbacks. Proper decisions and accurate planning on secured personal loan however minimise the impact produced by these drawbacks.
