Once and For All What Attraction REALLY Is

By Stephen N. So many words in our lexicon are tossed around with such a variety of meaning, that its a true wonder that we understand each other in this culture. This is PARTICULARLY true in the world of dating. One basic concept that you guys HAVE to grasp is the nature of ATTRACTION. Attraction, in brief, is simply when someone feels a romantic impulse towards another. It is the first step in building a meaningful relationship. What follows are chemistry, connection, compromise and commitment. Initially, if a woman is attracted to you and you to her, you have accomplished the simplest and most elusive building block in a relationship. I have met many men over the years, and have studied the nature of what is attractive to women. Initially, each woman (and man) has a certain type that triggers the potential for attraction. This does not mean that if you dont fit that type that you are out of luck. It does mean that your chances of engaging her in a flirtatious conversation increase. As a man, it is very hard to know what type a particular woman is attracted to and there is only one way to find out initiate a conversation with her. The best way to increase your chances with women, is to increase the attractiveness of your world and the daily life you lead. Women, intuitively, are looking for a man that fulfills her innate need for security. This is why insecure men have trouble attracting a mate. A secure man tends to embody a sense of humor, focus/determination (he lives with purpose), leadership, humility and vulnerability. Healthy, attractive women crave this combination. These traits are challenging for many men, which is why I believe a guy who struggles with women is living out of balance with himself. His outlook is normally negative, and he seems to respond to life, rather than act or move towards it. Insecurity is a result of being prey to negative emotions, such as depression, anger, envy, greed, lust etc. If a guy struggles with envy, he will find himself walking through the world comparing himself to everyone he meets, subtly fulfilling his internal prophecy of I am not enough, look at that guy, hes got it all The essence to being an attractive man is being a positive man. If you are a guy who struggles with dating and relationships, you must ask yourself these essential questions: Do you see problems in front of you, or challenges? Are you willing to accept yourself as you are, for the moment, and take on the responsibility of creating a life that is truly your own? Are you focused on short-term survival, or long-term prosperity? History proves that, biologically and therefore, intuitively - women seek out men that give them a sense of security. In order for a man to provide this, he must be secure in himself. A secure man is an autonomous manhe is the elusive one within each of us who craves to call his life his own. If you desire to persuade people into your life in order to build relationships, you will be far more compelling to others if what you are offering promises to be a positive experience for them. This is a simple sales model in order to sell a product, it needs to promise a positive experience for the consumer. If your world is filled with positive emotions (humor, happiness, passion, to name a few) you will magnetically bring like-minded people into your life. For example, when you are talking to a woman on the phone, and she asks you whats up? You might reply by painting an interesting and exciting view of the world in front of you be original. Recently, I was chatting with a girlfriend of mine, and in the middle of the conversation, I described to her the very funny scene happening directly in front of me which was of two kids playing with a puppy. It was a very humorous way to involve her into my world, one that helped her understand that I see the world as a lively and fun place, and that I am not afraid to share that with her doing things like this says so much about you as a man, but do you take the time to consider it? Another great way to reflect a powerful image into the world is in how you dress. Look at your wardrobe. Are you up on the latest fashion? Is your look something you are proud of, that you enjoy? Does your look work for your career path? If not, you might want to consider at least enhancing your wardrobe a bit with some of the basics or by buying a very nice pair of shoes for example. Or, seek out some help in defining a look which works with both your personality and lifestyle, and then find a way to incorporate that hire an image consultant, get your stylish sister to go shopping with you, buy mens magazines for ideasthe possibilities are endless here guys. Just remember, the most critical aspect in considering how you dress is to reflect your personality in a powerful way, that also works for the environment or scene that you are in. Might not be best to wear a really cool t-shirt to your corporate job, for example. If you can be someone who sees the world in a positive light, you will naturally bring people closer to you. Men who are successful with women are those who are autonomous and embody a spirit of security by having a full, meaningful and positive lifestyle. In short, they are happy. Aromatherapy Today

By Lisa Hoskins Although the word aromatherapy has not been around forever, the use of plants, herbs, fruits and flowers for healing have been centuries long. Aromatherapy is still being researched today for it’s wide variety of uses, including the healing effects that is has on the body. The most effective method of using essential oils is surprisingly enough not orally, but through inhalation or external application methods. When taken internally the oils mix with digestive juices and other matter, therefore changing the essential oil’s chemistry. External methods that you use to apply essential oils involves but is not limited to: body oils, compresses, baths, lotions, foot baths & rubs, applications on certain pressure points pertaining to particular areas of the body, inhalations (steam or direct from the bottle or on a tissue), room sprays and perfumes. Most essential oils are both antiviral and antiseptics and can be extremely powerful as well as having a wide range of pleasant aromas. Such an example of that power is the essential oil of oregano, which is 26 times more powerful as an antiseptic than phenol- an active ingredient in many commercial cleaners. Due to the rise in technology we have left many effective natural healing methods behind. Although technology is certainly very useful and beneficial, we must also remember everything Mother Nature has provided us with and take full advantage of these natural wonders. Scents in and of themselves leave lasting impressions on our mind, body and spirit. How many of us are reminded of a person place or event when we get a whiff of a familiar scent? My Grandmother had a beautiful garden filled with peonies and roses during the summers when I was a child. When I smell them in my own garden now, I am instantly taken back in time to Grandma’s backyard on a lazy summer day. We always associate smells with events. Turkeys and pumpkin pies make us think of Thanksgiving, and fall……Pine and peppermint brings thoughts of Christmas with our family and friends. These scents not only affect our noses, but our minds and well, not to mention our bodies and spirits. For those of you who haven’t ventured beyond the ‘aromatic’ properties of natural essential oils, maybe it’s time you take another step forward and do so. With some integration of these fabulous gifts from Mother Nature into your daily life, you can discover just how many wonderful ways you can use them- not just for the mind, but for the body and spirit as well. When You are at the Mall, Don’t Forget to Pick Up Your Pet Elephant!

By John T Jones, Ph.D. I use to tell my kids, Get yourself an elephant; people will look up to you. What I meant was that they should reach high goals that are difficult for many other people to obtain. I still tell my grandkids in college to take solid state physics type classes rather than basket weaving. That will cut down the competition. I might note that I took plenty of solid state physics classes when I was a graduate student and I sat in on a number when I was a college professor. All in all I didnt understand exactly what in the heck was going on. Maybe nobody does. I never used one thing from a solid state physics class in all my days in the professional world. But it did get me a Ph.D. and better working conditions. I dont know exactly why this is but it is what happens. Are you kids listening? As far as elephants go, I have always wanted to have one, and hoped that one of my kids might have one in his back yard. Now Ive learned that it is illegal worldwide to have a pet elephant. What a shame. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant. If many of us had pet elephants, there would not be a shortage of elephants. There are only a few places that I know of that has a surplus of elephants. I learned this at http://forests.org/archive/africa/ovelezim.htm. Zimbabwe has so many they want to sell ivory legally to cut down the elephant population. The demand for Ivory is the reason that there are elephant shortages in much of Asia and Africa. We use to have elephants in America. These are called Mammoths by us and nobody knows what the natives that hunted them called them. I think they called them Zigdogs which in the ancient American language means Run for your life! I just added Zigdogs to my computer dictionary. This is not a trivial definition. The Aztecs thought the Spanish horses were big dogs. The elephant was on the island of Crete until about 3000 to 5000 years ago. It was as big as a pig. I wouldnt call that much of an elephant. See again http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant. There is nice shot of some elephants at http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/animals/conservation/elephants/. This article claims that the population of elephants in the 1970s and 1980s dropped from 1,300,000 to 600,000. That includes all “three” living African species, the African Bush Elephant, the African Forest Elephant, the “Other” African Forest Elephant, but not the Asian Elephant, which we called as kids, the Indian Elephant. Did you know that the African Elephant of the Savannah is as different “species wise” from the African Forest Elephant(s) as the lion is from the tiger? Usually the kind of elephant you see in a circus is the Indian Elephant. The Africans never bothered to tame their critter. They preferred to eat them instead. A Slight Diversion This is quite like Geronimo who preferred to eat horses rather than ride them. Ive always been a fan of Geronimo. He is in one of my novels (Bull http://www.tjbooks.com). I was stationed at Fort Sill so I know where he was incarcerated and where he jumped off the bluff. I saw aircraft fly over that very same bluff at low altitude. Out jumped hundreds of paratroopers. Each one yelled, Geronimo! Well, maybe they didnt. I couldnt here them anyway. Some of the equipment landed with a big thud when the chutes didnt open. The troops were on the ground in minutes and firing 105 mm howitzers at nothing in particular. Back to the Decline in Elephant Populations Elephants are decreasing in number because people are increasing in number and crowding them out. That is everywhere but in such places as Zimbabwe where ivory hunters, who are tired of getting shot at by rangers, want to hunt elephants in peace. My solution to the decreasing elephant population is simple: Make pet elephants legal. You would be able get one at PetSmart. I saw a guy bring a dog out of PetSmart the other day. It was as big as a full-grown pig. If it had of had a trunk I would think it was from Crete. Another great idea would to take the DNA from one of those frozen Hairy Mammoths, stick it in a female elephants ova (a single egg is called an ovum), and plant them in the uteruses of cows near my home here in Idaho. There would be plenty of milk to feed the newborn Mammoth calves. Ill bet nobody would mess with those babies. One of my grandkids just pointed out that the Hairy Mammoth was killed by primitive hunters. Well, forget the Mammoth restoration project for now. Actually, that was a lie. My grandkids are not here today. But that is what they would tell me if they were here. Read about current Asian Elephant populations at http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/AsianElephants/elephantstudy.cfm and about African Elephant populations at http://www.npr.org/programs/re/archivesdate/2002/nov/index.html. Get yourself an elephant. People will look up to you! John T. How to Make Clients Love Your Newsletter

By Simon Payn It’s not so difficult to have readers who love what you do — clients and potential clients who look forward to receiving your newsletter every month. Success is down to just one simple rule. Like many rules, this one is very obvious. I frequently speak with people who are thinking of launching a newsletter for their business. Smart move, of course. The conversation always moves on to content. What sort of articles should be in the newsletter? If they own a hair salon, they want more articles about hair; if they are a real estate agent, they want more articles about real estate; if they are a chiropractor, they want more articles about… Well, you get the picture. Now, there’s nothing wrong with having one or two articles about what your business does. After all, it shows your expertise — proves you know what you’re talking about. But don’t overdo it. The problem is this: many business owners think that what they do is interesting and important — and so expect readers to be equally interested in that subject. After all, they do all come to the business to get their hair cut or have their dog vaccinated. The truth is, most of the time, readers aren’t all that interested in what you do. And they’re unlikely to be interested enough to read a whole newsletter on auto repair or home-schooling 12 times a year. They’re interested in all sorts of other things. At the end of the day, your business is merely a means to an end — a way of getting something done they couldn’t do themselves. So instead of writing about what you do, think about the things that are important to your readers. Your newsletter should contain information that addresses your clients’ needs and wants; information that makes their lives easier. That’s how you’ll build a solid relationship with them. They’ll come to trust you as someone who provides them with information that helps them. And it’s why many of the newsletters I produce contain ‘how-to’ information and useful tips and tidbits. People love that sort of stuff. They want to make their lives easier; they want to read intriguing information. You know your clients best. What do they like to do? What do they want to know about? What do they need and want? If your newsletter helps make your readers’ lives better, you’re 80 percent of your way to success. Inspiration for Your Knitting

By Linda Black There comes a point, in every knitters progress, when you want to design a garment yourself and translate it into a knittable pattern. But where do you start? Inspiration for the design may, if youre very lucky, suddenly present itself in your imagination. You can see exactly what it should look like, right there in your minds eye. Nows the time to sketch what you see and make notes about colours and types of yarn to be used. There are two reasons for doing this. Firstly, so you dont forget it! You may not have the time to knit it right now, but you can put a quick sketch in your To Do file for knitting later on. Secondly, by sketching it and filing it away, you clear your mind so more original ideas can bubble to the surface. The idea of making a sketch may fill you with horror. I cant draw, I hear you say! Yes, you can draw. Remember that your sketchbook is for your eyes only and, providing you can understand the lines youve drawn on the paper, thats all that matters. If your sketch is very basic, you can always supplement it with lots of notes. However, there are a couple of ways to cheat with your sketching! 1. Find a photograph in a magazine or book of a model wearing something that closely resembles the shape of your garment idea and photocopy it. Cut out the shape and use the hole as a stencil. If you mount your stencil on to card, it can be used several times for different ideas. 2. Take the same photograph and trace the garment outline. Photocopy your tracing as many times as you need and sketch your ideas on top. The actual translation of your sketches into knitting will not be without problems but you have to remember that its an original idea youre dealing with and that requires patience. Translating ideas from paper to pattern to knitting may require modifications along the way. Its in the manipulation of these that the real work of the inventive designer comes into play. Some Tips For Preserving Your Baby Girl Dresses

By Joshua Poyoh Perhaps one of the most treasured items a mother may save will be her daughter’s baby girl dresses. Many moms dress their babies up in the frilliest of dresses knowing that one day they may prefer jeans. These dresses can be saved for a lifetime of memories. While many moms like to save the very first in a long line of baby girl dresses, there are other dresses they may wish to save as well. Perhaps some of the cutest dresses their little girls may wear are christening, flower girl, or ones worn on special holidays such as the first Christmas or birthday. A professional can carefully preserve these dresses or you can do it yourself by simply wrapping your baby girl dresses in acid free tissue paper and storing them away. It is always a good idea to find a container that will repel moths, as they can be the death of any garment. When planning to store your little baby girl dresses for the future, make sure they are professionally cleaned first, much like you would do for a wedding dress before you slip it into the closet. Some cleaners can package the dress for you in a box or a garment bag that will help preserve the integrity of the garment. These dresses can be passed down to your daughter one day when she has children of her own. She may wish to she her daughter wear one of her old baby girl dresses, or may cherish that you have saved it all that time as a reminder of when she was young. Special dresses life flower girl dresses can be used from generation to generation, much like wedding dresses. Choosing simple yet beautiful baby girl dresses will ensure they will be loved and cherished for generations to come. If you have a ton of baby girl dresses that you can’t part with, it may be unrealistic to keep them all boxed up and saved for the future. It may be painful for you to watch or do yourself, but you can have the dresses cut up and made into a quilt. If you are into quilting, you can easily do this yourself. If not, there are places you can go to have someone make them for you. You may not have the entire dress left, but you will have a lifelong reminder of the beautiful baby girl dresses your little one once wore. Whether you choose to preserve a few dresses, or to turn your baby girl dresses into a treasured keepsake quilt, you are keeping the memory of your babies alive and well. As they grow, they may irritate you, rebel against you, or try to run away from you, but you always have those baby girl dresses to remind you that under all of their teen angst, they will always be your little girl. Looking For Alkaline Diet Recipes-It’s Easier Than You Think

By Melissa Church Trying to find an Alkaline Diet Recipe? It’s not as hard as you think. Adopting a healthier way of eating with a high alkaline diet is simple when you have access to alkaline diet recipes. Finding at least 10 recipes that you like is really all that you need in order to adopt this way of eating. Most individuals and families really only need 10 good recipes that they enjoy in order to switch from the standard American diet to the alkaline diet way of eating. Alkaline diet recipes may seem intimidating at first because a lot of them rely on unfamiliar ingredients. Most people are not used to cooking with tofu and other vegetarian protein sources. There are also a lot of alkalizing vegetables that can be unfamiliar. However, you dont have to worry about making those things at first. In fact, there are plenty of alkaline diet recipes that include familiar foods. You just have to take the time to understand which foods are alkalizing and which foods are acidic. How do you find alkaline diet recipes that your family will enjoy? Start by scanning over the list of alkaline foods and picking out which foods your family already likes to eat. It will be much simpler for you, and for them, to make the transition with foods they already know and love. Build your list of recipes from the alkalizing foods that you already enjoy and already know how to prepare. As you become more comfortable with the alkaline diet recipes, you can expand your repertoire to include some of the more out of the ordinary ingredients. Many people are surprised to discover that they love kale or rhubarb, or other exotic vegetables and fruits, once they try them. A lot of the intimidation with preparing alkaline meals comes from the fact that most people eat the vast majority of their foods out of a box or a can. Since alkaline diet recipes rely on fresh, unprocessed foods youll have to get used to preparing them if youre a recovering fast food junkie. Cooking, like all skills, takes time to learn but it isnt impossible. Youll be surprised what you can accomplish after just a few weeks of preparing your own tasty, alkalizing meals. The Three Ps of Salary Negotiation

By William Nichols Salary negotiations arent easy for most people. If youre going after a new job, you dont want to price yourself out of the market. If youre attempting salary negotiations at a job you already have, then you may be afraid of bringing up the subject at all or be concerned you wont be taken seriously, or worse, that you will make your current boss angry. Fortunately in either case, if you do your homework, approach the matter of salary negotiations in a professional way, you will likely be surprised to hear your employer say yes to your salary requestsand always present them as requests, not demands. The very first step in salary negotiation, though, is to know your own value. This is particularly true when negotiating for a salary increase in a job you already have. To determine your worth, consider these things: Your skills Your experience Your education level All of these things are important when evaluating what you are worth as an employee. After you determine your own worth, you want to research how much others are making for the same job youre doing. Again, your experience, education and skills must be comparable. Someone with the same job title you have may, indeed, be making thousands of dollars more than you are, but when you investigate, youll probably learn that the person has 10 years more experience than you do, lives in an area where salaries are higher overall or has a higher education level than you do. Once you know your worth and what your position or the position youre seeking is worth, then you are ready to present your salary or salary increase request to your employer. This is where the research you do will pay off most because, as in anything else, presentation is everything. The better prepared you are with facts and figures, the more likely an employer is to listen. When involved in salary negotiations you, above all, want to have your facts and figures ready. You will want to be prepared to calmly and rationally explain why you feel you deserve the raise or salary youre asking for. Having the facts and figures ready to back up your salary request will ensure you have the confidence to answer any questions that may be thrown at you during salary negotiations. Being unprepared is what normally causes people to fail when negotiating for the salaries they wantand deserve. Dont let this happen to you. Be prepared. Know your worth, positions worth, what similar companies are paying in your area, and dont make the discussion personal. Never bring personal matters such as child support payments or new car needs into salary negotiation discussions. Salary negotiations should always be conducted in a professional, businesslike mannerand the more professional and prepared you are, the more likely you are to get that raise or salary you deserve. How To Find Hidden Treasure

By Steven Gillman Where can you find hidden treasure? Almost anywhere. How can you find it? Here are some new ideas on that. I was once involved in tearing down an old house. In the attic, hidden underneath the insulation, I found a glass piggy bank of old pennies. I also found a rare old magazine and a few other minor treasures. Treasure is not always things of obvious value, though. Hidden in the walls of that house was a treasure that at the time never occurred to me: copper tubing. I later discovered that the water lines we paid to have hauled away were sold as valuable scrap by the junk man. It made me wonder what else could be “treasure,” and where else I might find it. New Ideas On Hidden Treasure Hidden in a warehouse in the small town where I used to live, was a mountain of old boxes. It was the leftover inventory of a wooden clock factory that had gone out of business. The owner of the clocks had let them sit there for at least ten years. Finally someone explained to him how he could sell them on Ebay, and he realized the treasure he was sitting on. An old Mayan Indian we met at a hot spring in Arizona showed us how to find arrowheads and metates (used for grinding corn or mesquite beans) in the desert. They’re hundreds of years old. He sold one of his metates for $200 during a yard sale, but this may be illegal now. Check with authorities on this one. I have hidden money several times in my life. Many people do. What happens when people die unexpectedly? The money and valuables they hid remain where they are until discovered. There is an estimated several billion dollars in hidden currency alone in this country, and who knows how much in silver, gold, jewelry and other things. Here are some of the places people have discovered these hidden treasures. - Under sinks (money). - Hidden inside the pages of books (bills). - Buried in crawl-spaces (all sorts of treasure). - Above ceiling tiles. - Buried under the edges of cement patios. - In walls behind outlet plates. - In pump houses. - Under floors in sheds. - In old heating oil tanks (coins). - Under rocks in highway rest areas. That last one is a favorite hiding place for drug dealers and other criminals who need to hide cash fast. If they never get out of prison, or die, the money waits for a treasure hunter to find it. Sometimes you just have to look to find hidden treasure. Steve Gillman has been hunting down obscure knowledge and useful secrets for years. Wedding Toasts: Only 3 Words Matter

By Tom Antion A wedding toast can be a scary thing, especially if you arent used to standing up and talking in front of large groups of people. To make matters worse, you will probably be delivering your wedding toast when you are tired and you might have had a little too much to drink. Add this to the fact that the video camera is going to be zoomed in to catch every facial expression and every syllable you say and youve got one tough situation to deal with. So how can you make sure your wedding toast will be one that will enhance the entire wedding experience and not make you look foolish? Three words are the answer: Research, Preparation and Practice Research This means you need to check out many other toasts so you can pick something that matches your sentiments for the bride and groom. Preparation This is where you adapt a stock toast and personalize it for your bride and groom, parents, grandparents or whomever you want to honor. Practice This is the part where most people slack off. Your lips dont always go where your mind tells them and you certainly dont want to flub this up. Plan in advance as far as you can and dont skip any of the above steps. Youll rarely be the hit of a wedding because of your wedding toast and rightfully so. The bride and groom are the stars. But, poor preparation of your wedding toast certainly could make you the laughing stock. Remember, you are going to perform your wedding speech live, but youll be on video forever.
